Toronto by Tennessee

Let's keep this Fernet-love going. Like the Sevier Park Swizzle we posted a few weeks ago, the Toronto by Tennessee is an example of how adding one complex ingredient (in this case the bitter amaro Fernet-Branca) can yield an almost entirely new drink.

This one is bold and bitter, but our Old Fashioned mixer brings a touch of sweetness and helps combine these two disparate ingredients into one very satisfying sipper.

This is also a drink that's easy to customize to your taste by simply raising or lowering the amount of Fernet or Old Fashioned mixer. Experiment with your favorite Tennessee Whiskey to make this one your own.

DEDICATION: This recipe goes out to our good friend in Toronto, Rejean Quesnelle, who traveled a few thousand miles (ahem, kilometers) to experience Tennessee whiskey in its native habitat. This man is a dedicated whiskey fan.

INGREDIENTS:

2 oz. Tennessee Whiskey (or Bourbon will suffice)

.5 oz. Fernet-Branca

.25 oz. Eli Mason Old Fashioned Cocktail Mixer

Combine all ingredients over ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into chilled coupe and garnish with orange peel.
